Protecting wild places: Our donation to Oregon Wild
At Flatwater Kayak Club, our love for kayaking goes hand-in-hand with a commitment to the health of our waterways, wildlife, and natural landscapes. Recognizing the crucial role conservation plays in responsible kayaking, we contributed $500 to Oregon Wild as a business supporter, a gesture that mirrors our desire to ensure our state’s preservation for future generations.
About Oregon Wild
For nearly 50 years, Oregon Wild has stood as a guardian of the Pacific Northwest's wild lands, wildlife, and waters (with this critical land acknowledgement). This 501c(3) nonprofit dedicatin to protecting our region's natural splendor aligns closely with our core values, particularly as flatwater kayakers who cherish Oregon's rivers and lakes.
We experience so many incredible kayaking benefits in these wild places: connection to nature, the challenge and satisfaction of body movement, and the peace and solace that so many of us crave in our daily lives. Our stunning Oregon waters and wild lands require our protection to remain vibrant, healthy, and accessible for all.
Our support for Oregon Wild also stems from a shared belief in the importance of ethical, sustainable outdoor practices and the protection of natural habitats and Pacific Northwest wildlife. Such efforts are vital for the continuation of kayaking and other recreational activities in an environment that is both safe, responsible, and beautiful.
NEW OREGON WILD REPORT: 1.3 million Oregonians would benefit from drinking water protections under the River Democracy Act
In making our first $500 charitable donation to Oregon Wild, our humble, growing kayak company hopes to inspire others in our community to support conservation efforts. When I launched this business, I made a commitment to give back a portion of any website ad/affiliate income to reputable Pacific Northwest nonprofit organizations. Today is a first step of what I hope is many more nonprofit donations to come.
One thing I learned in my past life as a nonprofit development director is that even small gestures can make a significant impact, especially when it's driven by shared values, a common goal, and kindness. It’s up to all of us in the paddling community to help share the enormous responsibility of caring for our region’s iconic places – from the Columbia River to Crater Lake to the Kalamath River Basin and beyond.
Together, through actions big and small, we can make a difference in caring for our planet and the legacy we leave for those who follow... Join us in making a donation to Oregon Wild today!
